Today, National Unity Day and Armed Forces Day were celebrated in the Georgian capital, established to honour the sacrifice of all soldiers who fell for their country. On the occasion of the celebrations, the Italian Ambassador to Tbilisi, Massimiliano D'Antuono, and the Defence Attaché of the Italian Republic in Azerbaijan and Georgia, Captain Gianfranco Vizzini, laid a wreath at the war memorial in Heroes' Square.
After the commemoration ceremony, a reception was held, attended by institutional representatives from the defence sector, ambassadors and military attachés from embassies accredited in the country. In his speech, Ambassador D'Antuono referred to the words of President Sergio Mattarella, recalling the commitment of the Italian armed forces operating in numerous missions, their contribution to peacekeeping, and their achievements that contribute "to making Italy an independent, free nation, inspired by democratic values and peace".
