Premier Giorgia Meloni said Thursday
that the situation in Iran was unacceptable amid a bloody and
brutal crackdown on protests sparked by the mid-September death
in hijab patrol custody of 22-year-old Iranian-Kurdish woman
Mahsa Amini, with the latest death being a 14-year-old girl
called Masoomeh with severe vaginal injuries.
She said the regime had wreaked unacceptable violence on women
and protesters.
"I repeat what I have already said, we are in solidarity with
them. I consider the violence on peaceful demonstrators and on
women in Iran something unacceptable", said Meloni, responding
to a question from reporters on the situation in Iran, leaving
the Ambassadors' Conference at the Farnesina (foreign ministry)
in Rome.
