Italy's Antitrust authority said
Friday that it has opened a probe into Meta-Instagram and top
Italian influencer Asia Valente over allegedly misleading
content she posted.
Valente is accused of failing to declare the promotional nature
of photos and videos on her Instagram account of restaurants,
spas and hotels with which she is suspected of having commercial
agreements.
The authority said Meta allegedly failed to take action to
prevent the publication of potentially misleading messages on
Instagram.
It also said that Valente's fame was based on her having around
two million followers, but it said "most of them seem to be not
authentic".
