Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister
Antonio Tajani on Monday said "we are following with great
attention not only our 1,200 military personnel who are training
the Lebanese armed forces, but also the 3,000 Italians" in
Lebanon.
"We are ready for any event in case, and we hope it will not
happen, the situation gets worse", he added.
"We are committed to do everything necessary to ensure the
safety of Italians living in Lebanon.
"We certainly today urge Italians who are in Lebanon to exercise
extreme caution.
Those who can return should do it.
"We advise in the most firm manner against going to that country
until the situation is so complicated", said Tajani.
Tajani said on X that he has spoken with his Israeli and
Lebanese counterparts, Israel Katz and Bou Habib, telling them
that "interrupting the spiral of violence is possible.
"The government is working for peace and stability, also through
Italian contingent UNIFIL for which I have asked protection", he
also said.
