Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti
said Wednesday that Italy was on the right track for bring down
its huge national debt after the Bank of Italy said it had
crossed the three-billion-euros mark in November.
"What comforts us is that Italy is one of the few countries that
promptly prepared a structural debt reduction plan that was
accepted and agreed with by the EU," Giorgetti said.
"It comforts us that we are on the right track.
"We should probably have done this same work in the years when
all these debts were incurred"'.
