Over 50 Valpolicella wine labels produced by 17 companies from the Veneto region have been showcased at an event in Zurich attended by over 200 people, including professionals and wine lovers. The event was promoted together with the wine consortium Consorzio Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore and the magazine Vinum, which has reported these wines' success in Switzerland, which has always been an important market. "Italian wines in Switzerland have registered an overall increase of 14% in imports since 2013", commented the director of the Valpolicella Wine Consortium, Olga Bussinello. Bussinello highlighted that the Italian wine and food industry has closed 2018 with revenues exceeding 1.6 billion euros, second only to Germany, which is confirmation that high-quality national products are on high demand. The event in Zurich was a business-to-business and business-to-customer Walk Around Tasting dedicated to the press, professionals and a selected public. Seminars were also dedicated to wines produced by the two Consortiums. The event started with a masterclass dedicated to the "Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore wine - a bubbly with 50 years of history from the a UNESCO world heritage site". The Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene earlier this year became a UNESCO world heritage site. Another masterclass focused on the "multiple expressions of Valpolicella, the land of great red wines", featuring as protagonists Valpolicella Doc, Valpolicella Superiore Doc, Ripasso Doc and Amarone della Valpolicella Docg.
