Pope Francis said Thursday he was
still suffering from acute bronchitis but no longer had a fever
as he continues antibiotic treatment for the illness that has
caused him to cancel many engagements including his highly
anticipated trip to the COP28 climate summit in Dubai.
Talking to participants in the seminar 'Ethics in health
management' in the Vatican, Francis said "as you can see, I'm
still alive.
"The doctor didn't let me go to Dubai, The reason is that it's
very hot there and you go from the heat to air conditioning. And
that's not good for a bronchial condition."
But the 86-year-old pope stressed: "Thank God it wasn't
pneumonia. It's an acute and infectious bronchitis".
As for his therapy, the Argentine pontiff said "I no longer have
a fever, but I'm still taking antibiotics and things like that".
