At least five people died in
Chile on Wednesday evening in a powerful 8.3 magnitude
earthquake that triggered tsunami waves measuring over four
metres along the northern Pacific coast.
A million people were evacuated from coastal areas as a
preventive measure in the wake of the quake whose epicentre was
located approximately 200 km north of the capital Santiago.
The earthquake was also felt in Argentina, Ecuador,
Uruguay, Brazil and Peru.
