An Italian hospital on Tuesday won an
appeal against the parents of a boy who needs blood transfusions
during heart surgery who had refused vaccinated donors.
For religious reasons, the parents demanded that the blood used
in the surgery should only come from unvaccinated donors.
The the boy is at Bologna's Sant'Orsola Hospital.
A Modena child guardian judge ruled that there were guarantees
of absolute safety in using blood from vaccinated donors,
turning down the parents' appeal.
The couple's lawyer said they may appeal.
