A 47-year-old man residing in the
province of Trieste has been arrested by postal police at the
bidding of Rome prosecutors for allegedly threatening to poison
mineral water and food items in supermarkets, sources said on
Thursday.
The suspect allegedly made the threats via anonymous emails sent
via foreign servers and demanded ransoms paid in cryptocurrency.
He also allegedly published videos showing how he would poison
the items, injecting cyanide and rat poison into them.
He faces extortion charges.
