There is a growing effort to
discredit Ilaria Salis, the Italian antifascst facing 24 years
in jail in Hungary for allegedly attacking two far right
militants 11 months ago, her father Roberto said Tuesday.
"A wave is growing to try to discredit my daughter's actions,"
he said, saying that "photos are going around of a crime
committed in Hungary for which my daughter is not accused".
He said "now the most important thing is to see what is the plan
to arrive at house arrest in Italy and to get her out of an
impossible situation so as to do the trial in humane
conditions".
Rome has protested to Budapest after Salis, a 39-year-old
Milanese elementary teacher, was led into court on a chain with
her heads and ankles cuffed, and amid unsubstantiated reports of
inhumane prison conditions.
