Centre-left candidate in Sunday's
Abruzzo regional governorship race Luciano D'Amico on Monday
admitted his defeat and wished his centre-right opponent,
incumbent governor Marco Marsilio, good luck in his work.
"I waited for the results to be consolidated. An hour ago I
called Marsilio. I congratulated him," said D'Amico, who ran
with a broad coalition including the Democratic Party (PD) and
Five Star Movement (M5S).
"The result was very clear. I wished him well in his work,
assuring him that we will be an opposition that can help realise
projects and programmes," he added.
