Italy's heat red alert cities fell
from 21 on Thursday to 16 Friday, according to health ministry
figures.
A red alert means the heat is so intense it represents a threat
to healthy people.
Cities that turned yellow on Friday included Milan, Turin and
Genoa.
Temperatures in part dropped over the Ferragosto holiday on
Thursday after nearing 40 degrees over the previous days in
Italy's long heatwave.
Meanwhile a bad weather warning was issued Friday in four
regions: Emilia Romagna, Liguria, Piedmont and Sardinia.
