Premier Giorgia Meloni's press office
on Tuesday denied a report claiming new security measures have
been implemented at Palazzo Chigi, the prime minister's office.
An article published by Turin daily La Stampa according to which
"security on the first floor of Palazzo Chigi has been entrusted
to members of the security detail" of the premier instead of the
police is "without foundation", said the head of Meloni's press
office Fabrizio Alfano, speaking to reporters at Palazzo Chigi.
"Nothing has changed", he said.
Alfano added that she has "full and total confidence" in the
police.
"Police remains on the first floor.
"Security measures haven't changed", he said.
The headline of the article published by La Stampa said: "Meloni
fears plots and news leaks, police sent away from Palazzo Chigi
office".
Alfano said the only change that could have led to the report is
"the fact that the premier has told the director of Palazzo
Chigi's inspectorate to reconsider the presence of a police
officer exclusively deployed to accompany (people) in the
elevator".
