Italy's top news agency ANSA and
Chinese news agency Xinhua on Monday signed a cooperation accord
in Rome that aims to deepen strategic collaboration between the
two agencies.
Visiting Xinhua Editor-in-Chief He Ping said the deal meant
"deepening collaboration to build a new bridge between Italy and
China" and "sharing experiences in the field of new media".
He said "we really care about collaborating with ANSA".
ANSA CEO Giuseppe Cerbone said there is in Italy "a very
great interest for China". He explained ANSA's priorities in
areas of common interest starting with Europe and the
Mediterranean and speaking of "ample scope for collaboration"
existing between the two agencies.
For Italy, said ANSA Editor-in Chief Luigi Contu, "ANSA is
an element of information of everything that is happening in the
world".
With today's accord, ANSA reinforces its projection into
Asia where it has an historic and important presence with
bureaux in the major countries. The agreement will permit a
greater flow of information and knowledge between Italy and
China.
The accord boosts the Italian agency's international
strategy which, in these days, is reinforcing its traditional
role in Latin America with the launch of a new site in Spanish,
ANSA Latina, produced by the Buenos Aires desk.
