Pope Francis will hold Holy Thursday
Mass at Rebibbia women's prison in Rome, the Holy See press
office said on Wednesday.
"On March 28, Holy Thursday, at 4pm, the Holy Father will go in
private to the Rebibbia Women's Prison in Rome to celebrate Mass
'in Cœna Domini' and meet with the inmates and workers of the
facility," it said.
The Holy Thursday Mass marks the beginning of the Easter
Triduum, the three days in which Christians commemorate the
Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus.
Pope Francis has traditionally chosen to celebrate the
sacrament, which includes the ritual foot washing, with
vulnerable and marginalized groups.
Last year he washed the feet of young inmates at a juvenile
detention facility on the outskirts of the capital.
