The father of Saman Abbas was
arrested for murder in Pakistan Tuesday after his 18-year-old
daughter was allegedly killed by the family near their home near
Reggio Emilia at the end of April last year after refusing an
arranged marriage with an older man in Pakistan.
Shabbar Abbas has been charged with murder along with his wife,
still a fugitive from justice in Pakistan, and three other
relatives who are being held in Italian jails.
Shabbar was arrested in the late afternoon in the Punjab area,
in response to a request for provisional arrest for extradition
purposes. He was alone and offered no resistance.
Saman's body has still not been found after her disappearance on
April 30, 2021.
