The chaos in Russia, where Wagner mercenary group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin has launched a rebellion over the handling of the Ukraine war spurring reports of a civil war, clashes with the propaganda that has recently come out of Moscow, Premier Giorgia Meloni said Saturday.
"We are following the developments on what is happening in the last few hours in Russia. The awareness is of a situation of chaos within the Russian Federation that clashes somewhat with certain propaganda seen in recent months", said Meloni in joint statements with Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer after their bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Europa Forum Wachau.
She said it wasn't "easy to say exactly what's happening" in Russia.
