Today, Justice Minister Carlo Nordio
visited Tirana for a bilateral meeting with his Albanian
counterpart, Ulsi Manja. The meeting covered various topics,
including strengthening judicial cooperation instruments,
creating a mutual recognition instrument similar to the European
arrest warrant, and exchanging best practices to ensure the
efficiency of judicial systems.
In a joint statement, the two ministers emphasized "the
excellent relations between the two countries, with a commitment
to develop cooperation in the areas of the functioning of
judicial institutions, judicial cooperation, support for the
liberal professions, execution of punishment, prison
administration, and training of prison personnel."
Priority was also given to mutual judicial assistance in
combating transnational organized crime and international
terrorism, combating money laundering, and combating illegal
human and drug trafficking.
